Auctioneer Brandon Leer selling the Females

The 7th Heritage Nguni Auction was held at Kriegerskraal, Graaff Reinet on Heritage day 24 September under very trying climate conditions. The quality of the cattle on offer was excellent and this dedicated group of farmers met the market on the day, which is to be commended.

The facilities at the sale venue have been upgraded and the members of the Nguni Cattle CC indicated that they are in the business of selling quality veld tested Ngunis into the market for the long run.

12 Veld tested bulls were offered by the silent auction method which is very buyer friendly. 11 Bulls sold for an average of R19909.00. The top price achieved was R34000.00 for lot 3, bred by Trenly Spence and bought by Banner Moolman of Somerset East. Trenly also sold lot 1 to Glenam Knott of Qhina Ngunis for R33000.00. The bulls were excellent and were probably the best group which has been offered at this prestige auction.

The registered females were all sold an a very buyer friendly market. Kevin Watermeyer of Compasberg Ngunis achieved the top price for Cows & Calves of R14500.00. This group of 2 was sold to Geoff Crewe-Brown of Graaff Reinet. Stephan Kirsten sold a group of 2 pregnant cows for R12000.00, a pregnant heifer for R10250.00 to Jonathan Knott of Port Alfred and Spence Ngunis sold the top priced open heifer for R6000.00 to Styn van Deventer of Port Elizabeth.

The Commercial Female prices were under extreme pressure and sold for prices which showed that grazing and money is a very scarce commodity. The quality of the commercial females was outstanding and buyers would definitely have gone home delighted with their purchases
