Download Application Forms for an Animal Identification Mark
The Animal Identification Act (No. 6 of 2002) makes it compulsory for all livestock owners to register an animal identification mark with the Registrar of Animal Identification and to mark their livestock in accordance with the following rules:
- Cattle can be tattooed from the age of one month or branded at the age of six months. They must, however, be branded by the two-tooth stage.
- Sheep, goats and pigs must be tattooed by the age of one month.
- Any person who acquires an animal from someone else must mark that animal with their own mark within 14 days.
