The 8th Heritage Nguni Auction was held on Kriegerskraal, the farm of Trenly Spence on 23 September. The venue was immaculate and the sale was reasonable under tough circumstances. The highlight of the sale was undoubtedly the top price of R65000 paid for lot 9, a bull bred by Marnice Pieterse of Kapokberg Ngunis sold to a regular supporter of the sale, Glenam Knott of Qhina Ngunis, Fort Beaufort. Unfortunately a number of outstanding bulls were not sold. A very good offering of 62 females were sold steadily, if not spectacularly for an average price of R6623.04 with a top price of R9750 paid for a pregnant heifer owned by Trenly Spence and sold to Steyn van Deventer of Port Elizabeth. The breeders of the group, namely Trenly Spence, Stephan Kirsten, Neil Hugo, Marnice Pieterse and Kevin Watermeyer really do need to be commended for the quality of the cattle offered and once again meeting the market. Buyers were very fortunate to be able to buy outstanding genetics at very affordable prices
