The Alphaeton Bonsmara & Boergoat production sale wa held at Alphaeton in the Fort Beaufort district on a beautiful spring day on Friday the 13th. It proved to be a lucky Friday the 13th where 82 buyers registered and bidding was brisk on all lots. The 29 Bonsmara bulls averaged R39413.79 with the top price being for lot 4, a beautiful dark bull which was bought by Craig Handley for R68000. The bulls sold in a range from R20000 to R68000 with a bull to fit every farmers pocket. Most of the bulls were sold into the local Fort Beaufort, Adelaide & Bedford areas. The Bonsmara heifers belonging to neighbors Pierre & Jacobus le Roux also sold very well and there was keen interest on the Savannah & Boergoats. The Fettings’ Famous Fowls created great excitement and record prices were achieved once again. Hobson & Co were the agents on the sale with Paul Mills & Jeremy Maclachlan the auctioneers.
