Hobson & Co held their final sale of the year in the Graaff Reinet district on Wednesday in 44 degree heat. Precautions had to be taken to protect the stock against the heat and the prices matched the temperature with all grades of sheep trading higher than the previous week. Garth Charles won the Falkirk Trophy for the third time in 6 years for offering the best pen of stock on the sale. His group of 36 Dorper lambs weighed 50,5kg and were sold to Claremont Farming for R1410 each. He sold another group of 70 Dorper lambs to Kei Livestock, a great supporter of this sale for R1260 each. This outstanding farmer who farms his Dorpers on very harsh veld proved once again that by sticking to the basics and meticulous planning success is achievable. 979 sheep and 41 cattle came under the hammer.
